DIN Specimen Sheet
The design of this specimen sheet explores DIN as a 'hard-working' font. The six principles of the German
work ethic — order, clarity, accuracy, punctuality, thoroughness and determination — are mirrored in a structured, ordered layout. The use of line and colour palette link the font to its function in traffic signage while the texture used relates it to its use in construction, engineering and machinery. The reverse-side poster expresses DIN's sense of authority and structure while also making reference to popular culture at the time of the typeface's conception with a nod to Metropolis.
